2.5 minute MTA flight on my local field
A hot July day, 34 Celsius. After 20 attempts I catch a beautiful thermal with a 2.5 minute flight.
This was with a self made BraKet shape MTA boomerang weighing 11 grams.

On a hot and dusty field, during trickcatch, I captured this whirlwind as it shot through the circles. Very strong winds, exceeding 50kph.

Something is wrong here with the explanation of gyroscopic precision making the boomerang turn. When you spin the wheel forward (clockwise) it turns to the left as seen in the video. Spin it backwards (counterclockwise) and it will spin to the right. Here is where I found an issue. Both right and left handed boomerangs are throw forward in a clockwise direction yet the left handed boomerang flies to the right. Why???
From what I understand both half of the boomerang or blades, act like the wing on an airplane. I may be understanding wrong, but I think like a plane wing the bottom will be flat on one side. So the right hand boomerang when held upright like when getting ready to throw it, will have a flat right side. And the left hand boomerang will have the left hand side flat. The lift is causing the Boomerang to rise to the non flat side.
But don't quote me, when I was a kid me and my dad built one based off the description in a book with no pictures I found in my grandpa's bookshelf. Turns out based on multiple RUclips videos we built it wrong and had the leading edges facing each other. Explains why it never worked right.
@@kylelambert1672 You are correct but gyroscopic precision would cancel it out. Basically it pokes a hole in the theory of what makes a boomerang turn in flight. When I first started building boomerangs I was told this by a few long time builders. Some even wrote books about it. None yet have explained the left handed boomerang turning to the right. This leads me to believe that gyroscopic precision is not what makes the boomerang actually turn in flight but has way more to do with the actual air foils on the wings as you stated.
@@kylelambert1672 Correct my friend. My guess is that it did not want to turn or lift? My first boomerang was made out of a piece of sheet rock lol. I was around 9 years old and knew nothing about them except for the basic shape lol. One throw as it wobbled through the air, hit the ground and snapped in half. That was in 1979.

But it didn't really return did it, what total bullshit...I mean it's miles in front of the thrower (looks like at least five metres?) so how can that be a record if it doesn't fully return to the thrower?! Not a record, not even close.
Funny. Just a day ago I found Phat Planet by Leftfield on Spotify and I really like it. And then when I got a strong desire to see large boomerangs thrown around I find that recognizable beat appears in the first video I find on throwing large boomerangs. 4:10 Small coincidences like that are always amusing.
